I owe somewhat of an apology to the guest of Matineecast #24.
You see usually the point of having a guest in is to make them the centre of attention - the star attraction if you will. I try to enable this by asking questions first, and then offering up my reactions to their opinions. Unfortunately, because of my stance on the movie at hand this time around, I sort of swiped the ball from my guest and made a run for it.
Sorry about that Nick - but when I did let you speak, I quite liked what you had to say.
Good thing too, since I'd wager there are a good handful of people out there who disagree with my opinion of the movie at hand.

Hey man, if you or any other listeners need any Considine pointers it's quite the double whammy as you get a Shane Meadows marathon too.
A Room for Romeo Brass
Dead Man's Shoes
Le Donk and Scor-zay-zee
All masterclass performances, each for different reasons (well, especially Le Donk)

Didn't finish listening to the show before leaving feedback. With reference to magical films, I wrote an article on Czech puppetry for Film&Festivals the other month and my research brought me to this beauty, which really has the same essence as The Prestige: The performer's unquenchable desire to be the greatest.

I like the part about the "real" Illusionist.
The worst film I've seen this year: The Expendables. It's getting a DVD release tomorrow and I had to restrain myself from writing an entire angry review in my comments on it. I'm not sure I have the willpower to even review it. That's not say I expected it to be good, but I hoped for it to be comically cheesy, or bad. It wasn't. Somehow they managed to throw the cheese in, but they wanted to balance it with deep emotional commentary on a life of violence, interspersed throughout extreme acts of violence.
Perhaps it was my audience but we had some consistent chuckles echoing throughout my DH viewing. My only hope is that this doesn't become a Matrix two-fer split. More on my review tomorrow (cop-out + plug = score!).
Oh and best magic film = Spirited Away. Enough said. :P
Crap! Why didn't I think of Spirited Away? My list sucked.
@ Apathy... Thanks, lookin' forward to checkin' that out. care to weigh in with a terrible film from 2010?
@ Joel... Made me laugh too (obviously). Bad 2010 film?
@ Univarn... Our audience was unfortunately skiddish and seemed to scream at the slightest of jumpscares. Got my friend Cheshire rather grumpy!
@ Nick... There's always one that gets away. Bad 2010 film?
RE worst film of 2010: Easily a film called Choose, which played at the Night of the Dead event at LIFF. To summarise my ramblings it was dull, predictable and had rotten, clunkily delivered dialogue, yet without being loveably hammy, 'so bad it is good' or self knowingly cheesy in an dmirable way. It was rotten; I would much rather something that is spectacularly awful than this pointless waste of time.

(second film down)
I didn't expect DH: Part I to be a stand alone film, therefore I take no issue with it being incomplete (except sadness of course). I too will have to watch the two parts back to back on a lazy afternoon once both are on disc, but I have to do the same with LOTR (at least watch all in one weekend), Star Wars and Kill Bill.
As for worst of 2010 so far, I'll shorten my list to 5: The Wolfman, Prince of Persia, Clash of the Titans, Edge of Darkness and Alice in Wonderland.
@ Apathy... You almost make me want to see that out of morbid curiosity now!
@ Rachel... Interesting that you put it that way as I have far less of the "incomplete" feeling with any of LOTR, Star Wars, or Kill Bill. Quite the opposite actually. Though one of these days I will have to go on a Star Wars or LOTR bender (Kill Bill I've seen back-to-back...on a big screen no less!)
As for your worst list, i actually liked Alice (much to the chagrin of the friends who saw it with me). If you're interested in some back-episode goodness this long weekend, you should check out my Alice Matineecast (episode 8) where my friend danger and I argue about it.
