Everybody's Talkin' 9 - 23 (Chatter From Other Bloggers)

So where was I...

Before subjecting myself to an average of two movies a day for a week and a half, and setting myself up for an insane amount of reviews to be written, I was posting on a humble movie blog. I'm glad that I'll be able to get it running normally again soon, and likewise that I have now been able to return to reading other people's blogs. I tried to skim during the fest, but actually immersing myself in what the rest of the community was doing was difficult, and following any sort of comment thread was impossible.

And y'know what folks? I missed it! Like Lady Hatter's delicious apple pie in that photo above, reading what everyone else is up to is one of the things I love most in life. And like the pie, I'll take great comfort in getting another taste.

Expect these to drop on Thursdays every now and then through the fall. For your reading enjoyment, I give you...

I got a mention on Some Cast It Hot...so y'know...that's cool.

Speaking of podcasts, since so freakin' many of you have listened to my episode with Marc from Go, See Talk...perhaps you'd be interested in checking out this post he's done on ten awesome movie scenes.

Dude - The Magic Lantern hit its 100th post. However there's rumours of steroid use, so the post might have to come with an asterisk.

I might be seeing EASY A this weekend, which Castor suggests is a solid B.

Another film that drops this weekend is NEVER LET ME GO. While I work on my full length review from TIFF, take a peek at what Ness thought.

Shockingly, Fletch watched a classic film and had it live up to his expectations. (Not to the cabin'd one - there are no additional endings, all the extra footage for the redux comes well before the conclusion).

The Groovers and The Mobsters are at it again, this time they're talking up lockup flicks.

Enjoy!

Hatter, definitely go see "Easy A". In my mind, it's an easy "A".

Seriously, this is top notch stuff - smart, funny, great performances from all (particularly the wondrous Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci) and taps into that feeling of feeling ostracized in high school. Kurt and I gushed about it on the Cinecast last night which will be posted at RowThree soon (I gave you a "shout out" during our discussion of "The Town").

By the way, I think we cracked 4 hours. Yes, that's ridiculous, but we covered a helluva lot of ground (big TIFF wrap-up). And it was fun while we recorded it...B-)

It's glad to have this back, even if it is on Thursday at the moment. One of the few series I truly look forward to seeing what's linked :).

So, when do you plan on having your life back in order? I suppose coming down from that TIFF high is a traumatizing event :P

Alas, foiled again...

Go see Easy A if you ever hope for your children, past, present, or future, to respect you.

That's not what I've seen, sir. Go here and read just the paragraph that begins with "The original 1979 70 mm exclusive theatrical release..."

@ Bob... Seeing it tonight, good to know it's worth the hype.

Four hours huh? Looks like I'll have company while I plug in and work on my spreadsheets today!

@ Castor... Anytime amigo, thanks for all the support you've thrown my way lately.

@ Univarn... Life won't *really* get back to normal for a few more weeks yet. Blogging-wise, I now have a glut of full reviews to write as the TIFF films I watched start getting released.

Real-Life-wise, I have a lot of running around to do over the next three weeks with a few important birthdays one-after-the-other, my anniversary, and Canadian Thanksgiving two weeks away.

So sometime around the nineteenth or so, I should be able to stop and smell the roses.

@ Simon... I shall. I'll also keep an eye on your blog for next week's E-T and see what I can highlight.

@ Fletch... That extra footage is just that: "extra footage". The story is over by that time and it's just visuals playing as the credits roll. By Coppola's own admission, the ending you saw was the ending of the story.

@ Vanessa... Gotta love craving pie at 2am!

Man, that's one tasty pic of pie! While Castor wrote a top-notch review, I liked Easy A more than he did. Is it because I'm a girl? Mostly importantly my 17yr old loved it! She's picky (like her mama)so her endorsement is gold!

@ Peter... Heh, I was once a big fan of McGwire. Great posts dude - keep 'em coming.

@ Simon... Gimme something big to link to this week. No pressure.

@ Colleen... (Thanks for reading btw) I think I dug it about as you did too. Look for my review to drop tomorrow morning. I'll pass along your pie appreciation to the missus.

@ Sasha... I never got to sit at the cool kids table, so that's awesome news! Gotta ask though, whatever happened to that intro I recorded for you cats?
