As the days start to shorten, and back-to-school sales increase, there's no denying that autumn's here. (Awesome song by the way...by Hawksley Workman...anyone...?).
After giving a personal friend a spin in the shotgun seat for an episode, we're back to a fellow blogger this week. It was a lot of fun finally getting to talk to this cat, after reading his stuff for over a year. The audio quality on this one isn't the greatest (my cold-ridden voice, plus his grumpy microphone). However, the conversation was a lot of fun, so I've kept it all the same.

First off, Marc is awesome and one of the nicest bloggers I've met. His mic sounded like he talking over a loudspeaker but he was very good. We just did this anticipated Fall films on MILFcast and we had a few of those on our lists as well.
I am however UPSET! I can't not like Citizen Kane but Marc can say Matrix 2 is better than 1 and get not even a scoff??? haha... AARGH!!! :)
I am an unapologetic Star Wars and Matrix sequels apologizer but the firsts remain the bests as they say.
Anyway, great ep. I'd love to answer your question of the week but can't for the life of me remember what it was so, I bid you ado!
Excellent episode! Marc was indeed awesome, as Kai noted. Some good choices for most anticipated fall movies, though I can't believe neither of you is psyched for Machete! And I'm glad you're both into The Social Network, I think it looks pretty good and I'm willing to trust in the talented people involved in it, but most people think it looks dumb because as you said, it's "The Facebook Movie". Parts of it were filmed around my school and areas I frequent (the dude went to Harvard which is... nearby) so I'm excited for that. I think some of my friends were extras!
And Hatter you're just making me jealous with all your TIFF talk. I propose you don't do any TIFF coverage so that I won't have to hear how awesome it is. This is a great idea.
(Seriously though, have fun!)
Great episode, Hatter! I'm not familiar with Marc's site, but must check it out now.
I really liked the electic mix of the most anticipated films. Sure it's Oscar bait season, but you guys really branched out for your choices.
I would list my anticipated for the remainder of 2010, but I'm doing that when we record the LAMBCast tomorrow night, so I'll keep it under wraps right now.
I'll miss the regular Matineecast format, but have fun at TIFF and can't wait to hear about what you get to see.
@ Kai... I listened to that episode of The MILFcast yesterday, and indeed got a chuckle when I heard JACKASS 3-D again. You and Marc sure aren't the only ones looking forward to it, but it ain't my thing.
I was too distracted by the fact that Marc had managed to completely duck RELOADED propaganda to call him on the carpet for liking 2 over 1. 'Sides, I dig reloaded - Long Live the Burly Brawl.
Didn't ask a question for next ep, so just keep an eye on Facebook and DOTM in a few weeks and you'll see a question posed before the recording of Episode 21.
@ Alex... Kinda forgot about MACHETE, though I think that's gonna be a renter for me. Got one more screening in me over the next week, and I've promised Cheshire that we'd go see THE AMERICAN.
You get some goodies at IFF Boston so don't be hatin'. Besides, you're just a do-able drive away, so I vote you make a trip up to catch a flick or two one September.
@ Rachel... As I promised at the end of the episode, Marc's site is now in my blogroll for easy clickibility.
C'mon, you can tell us one film you're looking forward to for autumn can't you?
As for Matineecast Classic, it should return on or around September 27th...with a certain co-host of Reel Insight in the shotgun seat!
Oh, alright. I'll give in and just give you the most obvious anticipated 2010 film of mine: HP7-Part 1.
And yay for half of Reel Insight making onto the Matineecast (in a few weeks)! Ironically my Word Verification is "split."
Oooh I'm going to listen to this later today when I catch up with a boatload of work. Two of my fave bloggers in one podcast? Awesome!
Now for my much belated comments on the episode:
Star Trek - Wrath of Khan is great! I love it. I was never a big original Star Trek fan, but I have seen the movies, and if I were to recommend two I'd say: Star Trek 2 (Wrath of Khan) and Star Trek 4 (The Voyage Home) highest among them.
Oh, and as for the drinking game, I'm probably the only one who partakes in it. Though in spirit I shall keep it alive :P.
Looking forward to your TIFF coverage though! Shall be awesome. One of these days I'll go that way. Perhaps like a pilgrimage (whether or not I go dressed in a gray cloak with a big hat I leave to others choice).
This has been one of those years where I've not gone to the theater but a few times, and only to pre-guaranteed likes. So, I have to be honest I'm rather blind to what's coming up.
Not a fan in the least of Jackass so to each their own there.
I've finally read the Harry Potter books so I'll put a book/movie comparison and marathon once we get close to the release of the Deathly Hallows Pt 1.
I hear a lot about Skyline, but the Strause brothers are behind it (the ones who did AVP: Requiem), and I'm willing to give everyone the first film (seeing as David Fincher started with Alien3), but I'm not sure the quality will live up to the visuals.
I feel sad M. Night Shyamalan's gotten to the point where his name is a hindrance to the movie. I love Unbreakable so much, I just think he needs to get back to simple, and quick.
True Grit, well you know how I am with Coens, so we'll say I'm lukewarm. Though I do hope Brolin gets some Oscar love for this or WS2.
Going quick now: Let Me In = jury's out. Black Warn = definitely. Tron Legacy = most likely for family theater trip (*takes drink*). The Social Network = perhaps, I actually didn't care for the trailer (something about the characters just seemed boring to me) and I was on the fence beforehand.
Another great episode Mad! Look forward to the next one, whenever that may be.
@ Rachel... Well golly if we're gonna go all OBVIOUS!!! Jokes. Obviously I'm looking forward to potter myself...can't wait to see how these final chapters shake down.
And heck - since they're giving me a free dvd, how could I not have a RI co-host on the show???
@ Ruth... Be sure to come on back once Franz Ferdinand starts singing and let me know what you thought!
@ Univar... Prepare to start hearing "Bottom's Up Helms!" anytime "I haven't seen it" gets uttered on my show.
Thanks for the massive amount of feedback, and indeed I'm sure you'd have a blast at TIFF should you indeed decide to come up.
I vote that before Christmas, you rent the original TRUE GRIT and blog about whatcha think about it. Then you can tell us all how The Coens measure up.
PS - What are your thoughts on o brother?
Hatter, this was tons of fun even if as Kai says, I was talking on a loud speaker:P And I thought I had a high quality headset...guess not.
Anyway I'd like to clarify, I "like" Reloaded better and it's more fun than The first Matrix but I don't think it's necessarily a better movie. But kudos to you Hatter, I too love the Burly Brawl. It was and still is awesome but my personal favorites are the chateau fight and of course the freeway scene simply because of it's non-stop eye candy and magnificence:)
Glad to see people liked the Cast and so glad that I could be apart of it...although all compliments go to the brains behind this awesome site (read Hatter). Give me a holler whenever you need an impromptu guest. In the immortal words of Vasquez from Aliens, "Anytime, Anywhere man" :)
